• The department offers both Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate courses.
• The department has a well-equipped computer and computational laboratory.
• The departmental library has several books at the Under-Graduate level which are useful to the students.
• Teachers give individual attention to students, devoting special time for weaker students.
• The students may opt for Masters in Mathematics or they may explore other areas like Computer Science, Statistics, M. Tech. after the completion of their degree.
• The teachers in this department are actively involved in research activities and regularly publish articles in reputed national and international journals.
• The department organizes students' seminar every year. All students are encouraged to prepare a talk on a topic of their choice. The students are encouraged to use PowerPoint for their presentations.
• Several eminent mathematicians have been invited by the department to deliver special lectures to the students. These include,in recent years, Prof. S. K. Mapa (Presidency College), Prof. S.C. Bagchi (Indian Statistical Institute), Prof. Mihir Chakraborti (University of Calcutta), Prof. Amartya Dutta (Indian Statistical Institute), Prof. Dulal Chandra Sanyal (University of Kalyani) and Dr. Saurav Sengupta(Indian Statistical Institute.)
• The department organizes seminars and workshops from time to time. A national level workshop on Cryptology was organized in 2016 in association with R. C. Bose Center for Cryptology, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. A national level seminar was organized on Knowledge Based Systems in 2004 in association with Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. The department also organized a one-week Teachers' Training Workshop in Mathematics and Statistics in collaboration with National Centre for Mathematics in 2016.
• The college plans to organize a national level seminar on Algebra and its Applications in near future.
